After Australia, New Zealand plans to open international borders from February 27. It comes after more than two years of the border closure due to the pandemic. Earlier, the NZ administration planned to reopen borders, but the individuals allowed to enter the country include fully vaccinated Kiwis and eligible travelers. As per the New Zealand immigration update, the administration stated it is time for Kiwis to reconnect and work in New Zealand. It is time for friends and families to reunite with businesses needing skills to grow. Even exporters need to make new connections. Respite for travelersThe announcement by the government ends after months of misery for citizens and separated families who were waiting to return. But they were unable to secure a place in hotel quarantine. Quarantine guidelinesBoth fully vaccinated Kiwis and eligible travelers who departed from other regions in the world can enter on March 13. The arrivals can skip hotel quarantine, but they will have to self-isolate for at least 7-10 days, sources said. Besides, they can enter the nation from Australia without quarantining themselves by July. Sources added it plans to open its borders for the rest of the world by October this year. Interestingly, travelers to NZ will have to undergo home isolation for up to 10 days on arrival. Unvaccinated individuals will have to enter the hotel quarantine. Individuals will have to provide the airport authority with 3 rapid antigen tests.
